MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Be a key worker for a number of residents taking on additional responsibility for their wellbeing.
2. Be aware of individual residents on-going care needs, likes and dislikes and implement the same.
3. Assist the residents in personal care including washing, bathing, dressing and toilet needs.
4. Ensure that residents are socially presentable in appearance at all times.
5. Ensure that residents have any aids e.g. – dentures, hearing aids, spectacles etc fitted, cleaned and in working order.
6. Responding promptly to call bells.
7. To assist in the serving and clearing of meals, snacks and drinks.
8. To assist residents to eat and drink, monitoring intake and reporting any concerns to the Nurse in Charge.
9. Complete all food and fluid charts and any other monitoring records as requested.
10. To participate in social activities with residents and to use all interactions with residents as an opportunity for stimulation / occupation.
11. Maintain accurate records within daily care notes for each resident as appropriate.
12. To report to the Nurse in Charge any changes in individual residents condition and any other relevant matter, noting especially and changes in skin condition.
13. Report any accidents or unexplained injuries immediately to the Nurse-in-Charge.
14. To recognise your own caring limitations and seek guidance from the Matron or Nurse in Charge as appropriate.
15. To refer all enquiries regarding the care or condition of residents to the senior nursing staff irrespective of the source of the enquiry.
16. To report to the Nurse in Charge any verbal concerns or complaints raised by the resident or visitors
17. Assist in the cleaning of the home as the need arises, particularly dining areas after meals and to support infection control e.g. cleaning up spillages immediately. 18. Pay due respect to residents possessions and complete and maintain an accurate inventory.
19. Ensure that bedrooms and communal areas are tidy and presentable
