As a Working Site Supervisor you will be a key member of the SJ Highland Construction responsible for the effective day-to-day management and hands-on execution of construction activities on project sites across the Highlands. This includes supervising on-site personnel and subcontractors to ensure work is conducted safely, to the highest quality standards, and in line with project plans and schedules, while also actively contributing skilled labour to the construction tasks. You will drive project success by ensuring efficient progress, maintaining quality craftsmanship, and upholding site safety standards through direct involvement and leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead, supervise, and work alongside the site team and subcontractors, mentor apprentices and actively participate in skilled construction work.
• Ensure all site operations adhere strictly to health and safety regulations and Company policies, leading by example in safe working practices, conducting inductions, toolbox talks, and site inspections.
• Monitor project progress diligently, contributing to on-site tasks to maintain the schedule and proactively addressing any potential delays.
• Uphold and personally demonstrate the highest standards of workmanship and quality control in all tasks performed and overseen.
• Efficiently manage on-site resources, including materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring their proper use and security.
• Interpret and work accurately from construction drawings and specifications, both for personal tasks and when guiding others.
• Serve as a key point of contact on site, effectively communicating with the site team, subcontractors, senior management, and other stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day technical and logistical issues on site, often through direct involvement and problem-solving.
• Maintain accurate site records, including daily logs, progress updates, and safety documentation.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
• Ensure the site is maintained in a clean, organised, and secure condition.
Requirements:
• Extensive and demonstrable experience in multiple aspects of construction with proven leadership or supervisory experience.
• Exceptional precision and attention to detail.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Full UK Driving License (essential).
• Own comprehensive set of professional joinery tools.
• Valid CSCS Card (essential).
• Willingness to travel to sites across the Highlands.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including working at height and in varying weather conditions.
