New Directions Education are looking to appoint a hardworking and reliable School Caretaker, to cover long and short term temporary positions in primary and secondary schools in Cardiff.
Due to the nature of supply work, all applicants must be willing to work in different schools in the area, covering internal staff absences such as sickness and maternity. Workings hours can vary depending on specific school requirements. Primary school hours can include split-shifts, such as 6am-10am and 3pm-6pm, and secondary school hours are generally 8am-4pm. There is also work available during school holidays.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate an awareness of health and safety and excellent practical skills. Previous caretaker experience is highly desirable, applicants without this experience will be considered but must have a background working in a building, maintenance or trades position with transferable skills.
All applicants should be confident working independently, to oversee the general upkeep, maintenance and security of the school grounds and premises.
Caretakers are responsible for looking after a school site including the buildings and grounds.
The duties of a school Caretaker include:
Caretakers must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working within a larger team.
Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security.
It’s mandatory that caretakers have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
