Applying for a  job can be a nightmare for new graduates. Along with examinations to test your skills, an interview is a step away from getting hired. So whether you’re applying through a careers fair or a careers expo, there is a big chance of tricky interview questions. But don’t worry, here are some tips to ace that interview and hopefully land that job!

  1. Come Prepared

Acing an interview will be easier if you come prepared. Give yourself a day to practice and review things about yourself and what you can do. Invest in becoming self-aware, knowing your strengths and weaknesses, as well as what you do best. Knowing this information can help you answer questions with more certainty. Make sure to rest well the night before your interview and remain calm during the actual interview.

  1. Do Some Research About the Company and Position

Take time to gather as much information about the company and position for which you’re applying. There will be instances when a recruiter might ask what you know about the company. Stating what you know can give an impression that you are interested in joining the team and demonstrate your dedication to the company.

Although information about the position you’re applying for is readily available, it still pays to have additional information. This way, you would be able to answer questions like how you would resolve issues in the future.

  1. Keep Your Answers Positive

There are instances when the questions may seem to bring out the worst in an applicant. Their goal is not to present you in a bad light; it is a tactic to see how you react to certain situations. It can gauge how applicants think and process things. Your goal as an applicant is to make the questions work by creating a negative-leaning question answered by a positive-learning response.

  1. Sell Yourself

Interviews are there to highlight your skills as an applicant. Take the opportunity and state what you can do and offer what you can do to make the company better. However, answer these questions with care. Stay confident, but keep everything humble. You don’t want the recruiter to feel as though you are bragging, as this could hurt your chances of getting the position.

  1. Honesty Is the Best Policy

The best reason to land your job is to answer the questions with complete honesty. Recruiters can see right through their applicants, and it pays to keep everything natural. Even if you do not have the best assets, top-notch skills, and great answers to questions, you can still land that job by being true to yourself. Keep in mind that faking your gifts will give you a hard time later on.

Conclusion

Landing a great job is not easy. It takes a lot of effort, hard work, and perseverance. However, if you train hard enough, acing an interview should be a piece of cake. Finding a careers fair isn’t easy either. But through platforms like The UK Careers Fairs, looking for companies with job openings can be a breeze!
