Stoke-on-Trent’s six towns explain much about living and working here. The railway station is in Stoke, the city centre is Hanley and this fair is at Vale Park in Burslem. Ceramics and other technical businesses are spread across that map, making local routes especially important to a home search.

Area averages are not current asking prices or individual property valuations. Local short-term changes are volatile; use a year or longer. UK HPI house-price observations are provisional and subject to revision.
The council’s 2026 ceramics assessment describes a sector with a continuing local concentration but uneven fortunes: traditional tableware has faced pressure while some technical subsectors have grown. It is more useful to research individual employers and skills than to assume the historic industry guarantees plentiful openings.
bet365 is an example of another local employer, with technology, operations and support functions and early-career information on its own careers site. Ask about entry routes, apprenticeships and transferable skills, then check the actual workplace, shifts and training requirements directly before applying.
Compare Burslem for the Vale Park area, Hanley for city-centre amenities and Stoke for the main railway station; other towns and neighbourhoods may fit a particular worksite better. The six-town layout makes the route between home and work more important than a broad Stoke-on-Trent address.
The official rent figure shown alongside covers Stoke-on-Trent. This includes all property sizes and existing and new tenancies, rather than current asking rents. Compare equivalent homes and add council tax, heating, water, broadband and transport. A lower rent can be offset by a difficult shift-time journey, so inspect both the property and the practical route.
The council’s transport strategy distinguishes the main rail station in Stoke from the main city-centre bus hub in Hanley. Plan any transfer explicitly, particularly when travelling to Burslem for the event. Do not assume arriving at Stoke-on-Trent station means you are already at the city centre or venue.
The council’s Smart Tickets page explains a multi-operator bus scheme with defined boundaries. Check current coverage and fare rules before buying, then test your actual commute in operator timetables. For early or late work, verify the last useful connection. If driving, ask about parking and access rather than relying on an estimated journey time.
The Potteries’ industrial history gives the area a distinctive cultural offer. The council reported that further galleries at the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery reopened from 24 October 2026 as its transformation continued. Check the museum’s current arrangements before visiting, since phased reopening means an old all-open or all-closed description may be misleading.
Explore more than one of the six towns during a scouting trip and combine heritage with ordinary errands. Find a local green space, regular activity and grocery shop near each shortlisted home. A convenient location for a football match or museum visit may be less practical for the daily commute.
Use Stoke-on-Trent City Council for city housing, council tax and local-service information, checking the boundary when considering nearby Newcastle-under-Lyme or another surrounding place. Families should verify school and childcare availability with the responsible service and provider before arranging a move.
Use the NHS GP finder, check broadband at the property and record the inventory and meter readings at move-in. At the careers fair, ask about shift rotation, paid training, equipment and the exact first-day address. Those details are particularly valuable in a dispersed city where a job title and city label do not describe the full routine.
We use official local authorities, transport operators, public data and destination organisations. Data periods are shown alongside figures. Employer examples describe the local economy; they are not a promise of vacancies or attendance at the fair.
Next editorial review due 3 December 2026. Prices, services and availability can change before then.

Tell candidates what the work involves, what support you offer and which skills can be learned on the job. A conversation at your stand gives both sides room to ask questions.
