Do you enjoy walking and want to make a difference in your local community?
Westbank is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to lead some of our established Health Walks in St Thomas, Alphington and Exeter City Centre or to start a new walk in the Mincinglake or Whipton areas. Full training and support will be provided. Various days and times available.
Every week, we deliver 24 Health Walks across Devon, led by dedicated volunteer Walk Leaders and supported by Back-Up Walk Leaders. Our walks vary in length and difficulty, welcoming people of all ages and abilities. From gentle, accessible routes for those with limited mobility to more challenging walks for experienced walkers, there's something for everyone.
As a Volunteer Walk Leader, you'll play a key role in helping people stay active, improve their health and wellbeing, and build new friendships. You'll welcome and register walkers, support both new and regular participants, and help create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere during walks and at post-walk tea breaks in local cafés or community centres.
You may also have the opportunity to help plan new walking routes and carry out simple risk assessments. In return, you'll join a supportive network of volunteers and enjoy regular quarterly meetings and social events with fellow Walk Leaders.
Volunteer benefits include travel refunds, meals (dependent on hours) and discounted membership for Westbank's gym (subject to qualifying criteria and terms and conditions).
If you're passionate about walking and helping others, we'd love to hear from you.
