Production Operative

At Fig-HR, we are currently supporting our client Universal Composite Doors in recruiting several Production Operatives.

Universal Composite Doors is a growing manufacturer of high-quality composite doors. Due to continued growth, they are looking for several Production Operatives to join their busy manufacturing team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work. You’ll have the chance to work across different areas of the factory and various stages of the production process, learning new skills and gaining experience across the business.

Previous manufacturing experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided. We’re looking for reliable, hardworking people with a positive attitude who are keen to learn and develop.

Job Purpose
As a Production Operative, you will work as part of the manufacturing team to produce high-quality doors and components. You will work across various areas of the factory, ensuring products are manufactured efficiently, safely and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
• Carry out a range of manufacturing and production tasks across the factory.
• Assemble doors and associated components in line with production specifications.
• Prepare materials and components for production.
• Use a variety of hand tools, machinery and equipment safely and correctly.
• Measure, cut, assemble and finish materials where required.
• Follow production instructions and specifications.
• Carry out quality checks throughout the manufacturing process.
• Identify and report any defects, damaged materials or quality issues.
• Ensure finished products meet the required quality standards.
• Keep the work area clean, tidy and organised.
• Follow all company health and safety procedures.
• Work efficiently to meet production targets and deadlines.
• Handle materials safely, including lifting and moving products when required.
• Work as part of a team while also being able to complete tasks independently.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the production operation.

Skills & Experience
• Previous manufacturing, production or workshop experience is desirable but not essential.
• Experience within a door, window, joinery, furniture or similar manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
• Comfortable using hand tools and basic machinery.
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.
• Good practical and manual skills.
• Able to follow instructions and work to set processes.
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
• Able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Physically able to carry out manual tasks and handle materials safely.
• Willingness to learn new skills and undertake training.

Hours & Pay
• Monday to Friday
• Working Hours: 7:00am – 4:30pm
• Breaks: 30-minute unpaid lunch break plus two paid 15-minute rest breaks
• Paid Hours: 45 hours per week

Starting pay will be £13.00ph during probation, rising to £13.25 and £13.50 when fully competent. There is also the opportunity to receive a monthly bonus based on attendance.
