Teaching is one of the few professions where you can really 'make a difference.' Class teachers have a direct impact on students through the planning and delivery of lessons using their individual teaching style to inspire students to reach their potential.
The rewarding nature of the job comes from the fact teachers can see the impact of their efforts day-to-day: through the careful assessment and observation of students, progress academically and socially can be witnessed. Teaching Assistants work with class teachers, both in and out of the classroom, to support children with their educational and social development.
TAs may specialise in supporting certain groups of students (for example, those with Special Educational Needs or English as an Additional Language) focussing on guiding children on a 1-1 or small group basis to meet their learning targets. TAs build strong positive relationships with students and use a range of strategies to remove any barriers to learning.
