Moxi Recruitment are currently looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant to work in our partner schools. You will be responsible for engaging young people in academic subjects and gauging their interest with innovative classroom approaches. This will be a full-time role that will be on an ongoing flexible basis dependent on performance. Key Expectations: • Helping learners who are under-performing in their subjects on a one-to-one basis outside the classroom or within lessons • Implementing strategies and supporting learners in self-esteem and confidence-building activities • Listening to and helping learners resolve a range of issues that are creating barriers to learning • Be able to use a non-judgemental approach at work with the ability to communicate and relate to young people and adults from all walks of life. • Monitoring attendance and punctuality of learners and maintaining accurate record and report keeping. • Advising parents on behaviour strategies and parenting skills • Networking with other learning mentors, teachers, and relevant external agencies • Planning and delivering sessions to pupils is of a good standard. Experience • Ability to handle situations empathetically and patiently • Ability to problem solve and diffuse difficult situations • Good communication skills both written and verbally. • Be able to demonstrate excellent communication, listening and negotiation skills Has the ability to work well under pressure • Has a strong understanding of confidentiality and the handling of sensitive information • High organisational skills and an ability to work to deadlines. • Experience of working with young or vulnerable people in a school or youth work setting is desirable but not essential. • Experience of using the school systems and having had an impact on improving attendance – desirable but not essential. • Has a strong understanding of confidentiality and the handling of sensitive information • A commitment to safeguarding both inside and outside of schools.
