Exciting Opportunity in our Engineering Department at Crown
We have a great opportunity in our Engineering department for a role that allows you to work within a tight-knit team, focusing primarily on the machining and inspection of one-off, fine-tolerance engineering components to exact standards and specifications.
Candidate Profile:
- Self-motivated and a natural problem-solver with a positive can-do attitude.
- Ability to handle multiple projects with often competing demands, operating across various machine platforms.
- While you won't have line management duties, you'll be entrusted with ensuring junior staff operate safely, leaning on your time-served experience and knowledge.
- Role may encompass machine build projects and occasional assembly tasks.
- Ability to safely apply practical skills across a diverse set of equipment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Receive and interpret engineering drawings and sketches to manufacture engineering components.
- Write CNC machining programs for a broad array of equipment.
- Oversee the manufacture and inspection of high-quality, primarily unique engineering components.
- Train and mentor apprentices and less skilled staff members.
- Spearhead the development of new machine tools and machining methods - a result of significant company investment in our manufacturing facility.
- Uphold high standards in your area, continually seeking improvements using methods such as 5S or similar strategies.
Required Education and Qualifications:
- Completed a Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship to City and Guilds or NVQ level 3.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Proficiency in CNC programming, including CNC milling, turning, and grinding.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing development setting.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Competent with computers, particularly MS Word and Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with a proactive attitude.
- Capable of managing individual workload to meet necessary timelines.
Beneficial Education, Experience, Skills (but not mandatory):
- HNC or equivalent qualifications.
- Familiarity with EDM/Wire erosion.
- Experience in a prototype setting or environments characterized by low volume, high tolerance.
