Purpose of role
Ensure that standard project execution practices are followed and exercise control over key projects.
Main responsibilities
• Safety is a priority; identify & resolve project safety risks. Ensure common Safe Systems Of Work across projects.
• Engage with Key Stakeholders and input in defining, refining and implementing Standard Operating Procedures and control improvements across the group.
• Independent review and assessment of key projects on behalf of the Regional Managing Director or other members of the Senior Leadership Team.
• Ensure correct and effective planning, control and monitoring, both internally and directly with the customers, of certain projects secured from the quotation stage, through negotiation to contract completion and final accounts.
• Audit the overall contract performance to Beck & Pollitzer standard requirements, ensuring all potential opportunities, variations and risks are identified and reported.
• Ensure effective and accurate project information is being reported at the correct level.
• Lead or assist with project kick-off and closure reviews and implementation of key lessons learnt.
• Apply best practices, principles, and knowledge for the optimal performance of the project controls activities and deliverables.
• Close interaction with the Internal Auditor and the commercial managers during various project preparation, execution or audit stages.

• Work with the Business Improvement Team to roll out any new operational systems and tools. Experience and qualifications required
• Experience of managing medium to large scale engineering or construction projects, ideally with regard to the relocation and installations of equipment and machinery. • Experience with T&M and Lump Sum contracts.
• Educated to an advanced technical level in a relevant engineering discipline, (e.g. time-served Engineer or part-qualified to HNC level or above).
• Experience of using Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and industry recognised project management tools for scheduling, tracking, analysis, business documents, presentations etc.
• Experience managing a project team and controlling, organising and motivating internal labour resources and sub-contractors.
• Follow B&P’s established standard processes, procedures and formats required for corporate reporting and deliverables.
• Experience of applying health and safety legislation including risk management processes. • Experience of ensuring good cost and budgetary controls, accounting controls and procedures. • Experience of negotiating and agreeing contract costs and variations with customers. • Understanding of engineering principles and engineering drawings.
• English communication to at least B2 level.

• Willing to travel at least 60% of the time.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and analyse data to make informed and insightful recommendations to influence the project outcome.
• Must be self-motivated, a good communicator, and team focused individual able to competently perform current scheduling techniques and analyses on all project aspects. • Ability to assess the wider picture, anticipate issues before they arise and identify opportunities to mitigate risks.
• Clear and confident communication style with the ability to build strong professional relationships, and engage and influence management teams where required. • Attention to detail and questioning approach.
• Able to present and explain technical concepts simply and succinctly; solution oriented. • Able to work at a consistent level under pressure and demanding deadlines. • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
